The members are able to sing while playing Yuanqin(a Chinese string instrument) and make up their own lyrics. The performance has a distinctive local cultural feature. There are six different tunes in Hengchun Folk Songs. It is easy to sing but hard to master it (you will never feel satisfied with your performance). Council of Cultural Affairs has made it a cultural heritage. |

Master Wu, Tian-Lou established Syu Yang Folk Dance Troupe. His son, Wu, Sian-Shan, has succeeded him.
Wu, Tian-Lou was a highly respected traditional artist, for he was good at all kinds of Holo folk music performances, such as narrative songs, mutual compliments and squabbles. He could even make up lyric while playing instrument. “Taiwan 400 years” and “Wake up” are two of his masterpieces. The language he used in lyrics has unique characteristics, format, contents and techniques with intent to exhort, fully showing Master Wu’s distinguishing features and contribution to Taiwanese traditional arts. The Folk Dance is so local, genial and friendly that it can arouse nostalgia in audiences. Their performances always receive wide attention with endless applause. |

The type of our theme is undoubtedly based on our mother tongue and traditional music (lyrics and melody). For the transcription, such as tempo, bass, keynote and chords, we adapt modern popular music including rock music, Latin music (which has similar rhythm to our original indigenous music), Cha Cha and Rumba. Sometimes we also add the elements of blues, jazz and African music. Therefore, our music is very attractive to people with different ages and levels.
※The band won the First Prize of the Group Award in the 14th Yamaha Band Contest in 2001.
※Our member Lu Da Ma Gang won The Best Aboriginal Popular Music Album Award and The Best Aboriginal Singer in the 19th Golden Melody Awards in 2006. |
